How Do Adjustable Dumbbells Work?

If you’re keen on working out either from home or at a gym in order to build lean muscle mass, then you’ve probably lifted a dumbbell in your time.

Versatile, uncomplicated and ubiquitous, dumbbells are a great addition to your workout...

You can even add them into aerobic or HIIT routines, to add extra resistance and effort. But for all the plus points of the traditional dumbbell, there’s a downside, especially if you’re using them at home...

First up, there’s the issue of what to do with the excess weights you’re not using. Generally, they litter the floor and get in the way when you’re working out, and when you’re not.

Something else that gets in the way of a good workout, is the time spent changing up the weight you have in each hand in order to carry out your routine.

Twisting off the end cap and pushing on or taking off weight as you switch between bicep curls and lateral raises is time consuming and annoying...

Of course, you could have multiple sets of dumbbells permanently fixed at a set weight, but that’s a luxury mostly afforded to the gym. Working out from home usually means that space is at a premium.

So, how do you overcome these obstacles...

when you’re using weights at home, yet still benefit from a full workout using different dumbbell weights? Here at BWSS Fit, we have the perfect solution – our stylish, high quality, sturdy, compact adjustable dumbbells. But what are they and how do they work? Here’s the lowdown…

What Are Adjustable Dumbbells?

Adjustable dumbbells are a complete set of weights (ours range from 7lb to 70lb in each hand, so they’re ideal for all workouts and abilities) all held within one unit. They look just like a traditional dumbbell – that is, a central hand grip with weights attached to each end.

But where they differ, is the clever bit...

All of the weights sit within a cradle, either side of the hand grip. So far, so normal. But set the dumbbell to the weight you want to lift, and the rest of the weights that you’re not using, get neatly left behind.

How Do I Use Adjustable Dumbbells?

Our 70lb Adjustable Dumbbell Set is super simple to use. Leave the cradle on the floor, grab the comfortable rubberized hand grip and flick your wrist to set the dial to your desired weight.

Then lift! If you haven’t set it to the heaviest setting, then the weights you’re not using will be left behind.

Use them as you would, any other set of dumbbells...

When it’s time to change weight, return the weight to the cradle, reset the weight with your wrist, and lift. It really couldn’t be simpler. When you’re finished, return the weights to the cradle, and store away.

What Are the Advantages of Adjustable Dumbbells?

Since all of the weights are contained within each unit (the BWSS Fit Adjustable Dumbbells come as pairs) the main, and huge, benefit of adjustable dumbbells is that they save a lot of space.

Whilst you’re using them, you won’t be stepping or tripping over unused weights. Then, when you’re finished, they pack away neatly and can be stored easily under your bed or in a cupboard.

Adjustable dumbbells also save money...

Since you won’t need to buy multiple sets for the convenience of having them permanently set to different weights. Simply change the weight with a flick of your wrist. They’re ideal for multiple users with different weight preferences or needs, too.

Another bonus, along with the speed of weight changes, is how quiet they are...

No more dropping weights to the floor in order to change weight, annoying housemates, partners and neighbour's in the process.

Instead, the seamless weight change is silent and smooth.

Leaving you to get on with your workouts and smash your goals. What more could you ask for?
